Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation is set for a decisive administrative shift, with Mayor Neeta Thakre expressing confidence that women’s leadership will give the city a new and sharper direction. In a move being described as historic, the NMC has decided to hand over the leadership of all major civic committees to women.

Earlier, both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts were entrusted to women. The new decision goes further—women will now head the Standing Committee, Transport Committee, and other key decision-making bodies of the civic administration.

The step is aimed at increasing women’s direct and effective participation in policy and governance. The expectation is clear: stronger sensitivity to public issues, greater transparency, and a more citizen-focused administration.
