Nagpur: The Nagpur District Table Tennis Association (NDTTA) will be conducting Miss Jennifer Varghese 3rd Maharashtra State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament in Nagpur at Subhedar Hall from August 15.
“The five-day tournament, which runs till August 19, has drawn a very good response as many top India-level players have confirmed their participation. Overall, we have received more than 800 entries across various age groups,” informed Adv Ashutosh Potnis, Secretary, MSTTA, during a press conference in the city. “JenniferVarghese has brought laurels to Nagpur and hence we have decided to give her name to the tournament. It is our gesture towards her fine performance at international level,” Potnis added.

Nagpur’s Aadi Chitnis and Aarush Galpalli are seeded number three and ten respectively in men’s section while Ikshika Umate is third seed in girls U-17 and 8th in U-19 categories. India-level players participating in the event include, Nirav Muley (U-13 boys), Param Bhiwandkar and Prateek Tulsani (both U-15 boys), Aadya Baheti (U-11 girls), Keshika Purkar (U13/15 girls), Naisha Rewaskar (U15 girls), Sukrati Sharma, Ikshika Umate, Naisha, Kavya Bhatt (all U-17 girls), Manushree Patil, Shruti Amrute, Senhora Dsouza, Aarya Songadkar, Sampada Bhiwandkar, Pritha Vartikar,Kavya (all in women’s section),Deepit Patil, Jash Modi, MandarHardikar, Raegan Albuquerque, Aadi and Aarush (all in men’s section).
The event will be inaugurated by Pallavi Dhatrak, District Sports Officer; Sambhaji Bhonsale, Director, Physical Education, RTM Nagpur University and Dhananjay Welukar, Co-ordinator, Mukt Vidyapeeth at 4.00 pm. Bharat Sangar, President, NDTTA; Shekhar Tongo, Vice President, NDTTA; Akhilesh Potnis, Secretary, NDTTA; Deepak Kanetkar, Treasurer, NDTTA and Prafful Nandedkar, Executive Member, NDTTA were present during the press conference.
