nagpur puneNagpur: Nagpur is quite familiar with the special trains running throughout peak festival seasons, but probably for the first time ever, the city would see the clone train passing through Nagpur-Pune route. In an innovative initiative, the Central Railway has decided to run clone train of the normally scheduled trains to clear the Diwali rush to Pune from here. As the festival is all set to kick in, the railways will be running those clone trains around Diwali. These trains will start reaching Nagpur from October 25 and will take a journey back by November 5.

Well, you may be wondering what clone trains are? Clone trains are the trains which run on the same route of its original train but after a gap of some time. Once the scheduled train departs, the clone train will pick up the waitlisted passengers from the similar destination and follow the route of its original train after an hour. However both the trains will reach the destination around the same time.

Central Railway officials informed that it has been decided to introduce clone trains on peak routes as the passengers’ waitlist swell during the festival, particularly during Diwali. Officials confirmed that no additional fare will be charged from the passengers and the fare would be just the same as that of its original train.
This decision would somehow keep the private bus operators at bay who usually charge 2-3 times their normal fare on Pune and Mumbai routes, to make the kill during festive season.

The decision was also taken to ensure the waitlisted passengers get 100% reservation in thse clone trains scheduled to start from New Delhi, Howrah, Mumbai, Chennai and Secunderabad, as on these routes the railways have the convenience to add new train to support the scheduled train on its route.
