Nagpur: In a significant development, Radhakrishnan B, the Commissioner and Administrator of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), is going to participate in the prestigious Mason program at Harvard University. The program, known for attracting leaders from around the world, spans a duration of 11-12 months.
While this opportunity is a remarkable achievement for Commissioner Radhakrishnan, it raises questions regarding the management of NMC affairs during his absence. As of now, the State Government has not announced a successor to oversee the operations of the municipal corporation. This situation compounds the existing shortage of high-ranking officials within the NMC.
An NMC official emphasized the urgent need for the State Government to appoint a full-time civic chief to ensure the smooth functioning of the corporation. Several pending projects, such as solid waste management and the laying of new water pipelines, require immediate attention and effective leadership. The absence of a dedicated commissioner may cause delays and hinder the progress of these essential initiatives.

The NMC official further stated that a well-qualified and experienced individual should be appointed as the new commissioner to efficiently manage the affairs of the municipal corporation. This appointment will be crucial in maintaining the momentum of ongoing projects and addressing the pressing issues faced by the city.
The State Government is urged to prioritize the selection of a competent candidate who can effectively lead the NMC and steer it towards progress. It is essential to ensure that the civic administration remains capable of addressing the needs and concerns of the citizens of Nagpur.
