Nagpur: A 17-year-old girl has allegedly been subjected to repeated harassment, stalking and threats by a 21-year-old man who was earlier booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in connection with an alleged sexual assault case, police said.
The latest incident has been reported from the Jaripatka police station area, where the teenager approached police alleging that the accused resumed contacting and intimidating her after securing bail.
According to the complaint, the girl had come into contact with Samyak Bagde, a resident of MHADA quarters on Nari Road, through the social media application Snapchat. The two subsequently met.
The girl had earlier approached police with allegations that Bagde had forced her into a physical relationship. A case under the POCSO Act and other relevant provisions had been registered in connection with those allegations.
Bagde was released on bail around a month ago. The teenager has now alleged that after his release, he began contacting her again through phone calls and messages and allegedly subjected her to persistent harassment.
She further alleged that the accused sent obscene messages, followed her and threatened to kill members of her family.
According to the complaint, the situation escalated on the night of September 29, when the accused allegedly arrived outside the teenager’s house. She informed her mother, who came outside after learning about his presence.
The accused allegedly abused the mother using obscene language before fleeing from the spot.
Following the teenager’s complaint, Jaripatka police registered a fresh case under the POCSO Act and other relevant provisions and launched an investigation.
Police are currently searching for the accused and are examining the alleged phone calls, messages and other circumstances surrounding the latest complaint. Further investigation is underway.
