Nagpur: Promising city shutler Radha Mundle qualified for the main draw in two events of the 39th Junior National Badminton Championship being played at Patna on Wednesday.
Radha made it to the main draw in the U-17 girls singles as well as U-17 doubles with her partner Shriya Bhagwat of Pune.
Radha, a Standard X student of RS Mundle English School, upset eighth seed B Archana 21-15, 10-21, 21-15 on Tuesday. In the final qualifying round on Wednesday, Radha advanced as her opponent Reza Farhath retired when the game score was 1-1 (21-19, 17-21). However, Radha lost in the U-19 girls singles qualifying.
In the U-19 boys singles, Sourabh Kerhalkar went down fighting in the third round against fifth seed Dhruv Kumar 17-21, 19-21. Earlier, city lad Sourabh had beaten Manan Jain 21-11, 21-17 and R Mani Gandan 19-21, 21-19, 26-24.
Another city girl Rashi Lambe lost to Deepthi Ramesh 8-21, 11-21 in the second round of U-17 girls singles qualifiers.
