In the just concluded Smt. Premlatai Chavan Memorial 1st Maharashtra Junior State Selection Badminton Tournament 2014,held at Karad from 4th to 8th July 2014, Nagpur girls gave magnificent performance.
In under 19 girls doubles categaory Nagpur pair of Vaishnavi Bhale & Mrunmayee Saoji bagged second place when they lost in the finals to the formidiable top seed pair of Karishma wadkar(Mumbai) & Revati Deosthali( Pune) in three well fought games with the scores of 12-21,21-17,13-21.
In under 19 girls singles too Vaishnavi & Mrunmayee perfomed well. Vaishnavi Bhale reached in semi-finals where she lost to the top seeded Revati Deosthali ( Pune) 21-16 21-13 while Mrunmayee Saoji lost in quarter-finals to Vaishnavi Iyer( Mumbai) 21-11,21-15
Similarly in under 17 girls doubles category Radha Mundle(Nagpur ) & Shriya Bhagwat( Pune) performed splendidly & bagged second place when they lost in the finals to the top seeds Purva Barve (Pune)& Riya Arolkar( Mumbai) in three well contested games with the scores of 21 -8, 19-21, 21-9.
Vaishnavi Bhale & Radha Mundle are being coached by Kiran V. Makode while Mrunmayee Saoji is being coached by Chetak Khedikar.
