Nagpur News: On Friday, when the city’s gossip mills were at work churning out comic tweets and spicy discussions over war of words on twitter between Pakistan’s journalist Mehr Tarar and Union Minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar, in which Pushkar alleged Tarar of ‘stalking’ and also labeled her as ‘ISI Agent’, there came a shocking news. The city went in for a major shock by late evening as they heard that Pushkar’s dead body was found in a room at Leela hotel in New Delhi.
Even as the news of Pushkar’s death spread like wildfire, a pall of gloom surrounds Nagpur who remained glued to their TV sets to get more update on the news. A hordes of social media savvy people took to twitter to mourn the death of Pushkar.
RIP Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor
On August 22, 2010 Tharoor married Pushkar who hailed from Kashmir. It was the third marriage for both of them. On Thursday, Pushkar posted derogatory remarks against Mehr Tarar’s on twitter and alleged Tarar of stalking her husband Tharoor. In reply to the same Tarar also used some objectionable words and warned to sue Pushkar for defaming her and calling her ‘ISI agent’.
There was a PCR call at 7.30pm after which her body was found in a room at Leela Kempinski on Africa Avenue in Delhi, the police said. They said she had checked into the hotel on Thursday. Even as the shocking news spreads, Twitter is abuzz with celebs expressing their shock and sadness at the development. People are also speculating all sorts of reasons for the death.
Talking about the sudden death, Shobha De said, “To talk of her in the past tense is intensely painful and difficult. She personified life. She was a vibrant, beautiful and free spirit. She had the guts to live life on her own terms. She was a friend, I loved her deeply, and I hope and pray that the circumstances behind her tragic end will be thoroughly investigated.” De was speaking on the sidelines of Jaipur Literary Festival, where Shashi Tharoor was scheduled to speak on Saturday.
Suhel Seth, festival advisor, said, “She was one of my dearest friend. I am devastated at what has happened. It’s something that shouldn’t happen to anyone. I was informed in the evening today that Shashi won’t be coming for the event scheduled for him tomorrow as he wanted to spend time with his wife.
Bollywood actor Aditi Rao Hydari tweeted: “What is going on! Horrible Sunanda Pushkar’s body found in room in Delhi’s Leela Hotel. Suicide suspected.”
