Nagpur: Winter has officially set in across Vidarbha. On Sunday morning, several districts experienced mist, dew, and a noticeable nip in the air. Gondia recorded the lowest temperature in the region at 11.5°C, making it the coldest district in Vidarbha. Bhandara, Amravati, Washim, Yavatmal, and Nagpur also reported a dip in temperature, marking the onset of the season’s chill.
According to the Meteorological Department, the temperatures were as follows: Bhandara – 12°C, Amravati – 12.5°C, Washim – 12.6°C, and Yavatmal – 13°C. Nagpur recorded a minimum of 14.4°C, which is two degrees below normal. Other readings include Akola – 14.3°C, Buldhana – 13.8°C, Chandrapur – 16.8°C, and Brahmapuri – 15.4°C.
The weather office has predicted that due to cold winds blowing in from northern India, the temperature may drop further in the coming days. Districts like Gondia, Bhandara, and Amravati could see the mercury dipping close to 10°C.
Chill Felt Even During the Day
The cold is no longer confined to early mornings and late evenings—residents are now feeling the cool breeze throughout the day. People have begun stepping out in jackets, sweaters, and warm clothing. Tea stalls and roadside vendors are seeing increased crowds, as the winter atmosphere in Vidarbha starts to take full shape.
