
Nagpur: The Nagpur Rural Police have seized 12.68 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs 4,14,600 and arrested one accused in a major action conducted by the Kuhi Police Station.
According to the police, on February 24, Anti-Narcotics Team received confidential information about illegal transportation of narcotics. Acting on the tip-off, the police began patrolling on the Nagpur-Umred Road.
During the operation, police spotted a suspicious man carrying a large red bag without a registration plate on his motorcycle. The team stopped him and questioned him. The accused attempted to flee, but police managed to detain him after a brief chase.
The arrested accused has been identified as Akash Yuvraj Panchbhai (30), a resident of Pimpalgaon Nipani, Tehsil Patur, District Bhandara.
When the police checked the bag, they found it filled with ganja. The accused reportedly admitted that he was transporting the contraband for delivery.
Officials seized 12.68 kg ganja worth Rs 4,13,600, a motorcycle used for transportation and a mobile phone. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at Rs 4,14,600.
Following the seizure, a case has been registered under NDPS Act Sections 20(B) and 22, and police have launched further investigation to trace the supply network connected to the accused.
Kuhi Police confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody and further probe is underway.
