Nagpur – A construction site on Farmland Road, Ramdaspeth, witnessed a significant ground collapse, causing a car to plummet 40 feet into a pit, alarming local residents.
The incident occurred at the site where Kedar Developers is building a multi-story structure near Hotel Center Point. A 40-50 feet deep pit had been excavated for basement parking. The land unexpectedly caved in, causing the supporting beams to collapse.
Gurdeep Singh Pahuja, a resident of the nearby Mangaldeep Apartments, had parked his car in the area, which fell into the pit due to the collapse. Fortunately, another resident, Thakkar, managed to move his vehicle just in time, preventing it from falling.
The collapse happened around 10 PM, drawing the attention of nearby residents with a loud noise. The Bajaj Nagar police and city officials were promptly informed and arrived at the scene shortly after.
There were no injuries reported in the incident. However, the continuous ground sinking at the construction site has left the surrounding apartment residents in fear.
Residents claim that the construction work is carried out recklessly day and night, ignoring the inconveniences and safety concerns of the local community. They worry that the pillars of adjacent apartments might also give way.
Officials from the construction company at the site refused to provide any comments regarding the incident.
