Nagpur: Hudkeshwar Police have arrested Harsh Ramteke alias ‘Ekka’, a suspected habitual offender, after he allegedly snatched a woman’s purse just three days after being released on bail.
Police said the accused was released on bail on September 9. On the morning of September 12, at around 10:30 am, he allegedly snatched the purse of Pratibha Rajendra Savarkar near Santoshimata Temple in Mahalaxmi Nagar.

According to police, Harsh arrived at the spot in a car, snatched the purse and fled. The purse reportedly contained around ₹10,000 in cash, a mobile phone and important documents.
CCTV Footage Helps Police Track Accused
Following the incident, Hudkeshwar Police examined CCTV footage from the area and launched a search based on confidential information.
Police subsequently laid a trap near the Hudkeshwar tunnel and arrested Harsh Ramteke.
During interrogation, police reportedly uncovered his alleged involvement in six criminal cases. These include three theft cases, two vehicle theft cases in Tumsar and Sakkardara, and one kidnapping case registered under MIDC Police Station.
Police have recovered a car, two-wheeler, mobile phone and cash, with the total value of the seized property estimated at ₹7.59 lakh.
The investigation is underway to identify the accused’s alleged associates and determine whether he was involved in other theft cases.
