Nagpur: A patrolling vehicle of Nagpur police caught fire during routine movement on Hill Road in Ambazari-Ramnagar area on Wednesday afternoon. Electric wiring of the vehicle, a mini bus (MH-31/DZ-0523), led to suspected short circuit causing the fire. Within minutes, machine parts underneath the vehicle were destroyed in the fire.
On receipt of a distress call, a fire tender from Trimurti Nagar Fire Brigade Station and firefighting team were rushed to the spot. The firemen were quick to extinguish the flames billowing from underneath the vehicle. The firefighting lasted around half an hour and saved the vehicle from further damage. The loss to the vehicle is pegged at Rs 10,000.
When the flames started, the cops on duty tried to put it off but as it started from the vehicle underneath the task became difficult to tackle the flames. Left with no option, they dialled the Fire Brigade to their help.
