Nagpur: In a major step towards improving transparency and accountability, Nagpur Police have introduced a citizen feedback system to monitor the registration and handling of First Information Reports (FIRs). The initiative is aimed at preventing delays, dilution of complaints, and alleged cover-ups during the FIR registration process.
Under the new system, the Police Control Room will contact every complainant after an FIR is registered to seek feedback on their experience at the police station. The responses will help senior officers identify lapses, ensure timely action, and improve the quality of police services.
Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil said to media that the initiative is designed to strengthen public trust and ensure that every complaint is handled fairly and without unnecessary delay. Any adverse feedback will be reviewed by senior officials for appropriate action.
The citizen feedback mechanism is expected to enhance accountability within the police force while encouraging greater transparency in the criminal justice process.
