Nagpur: In a major achievement that has brought pride to the Nagpur City Police Commissionerate, the Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Office has conferred the prestigious “Best Efforts in Qualitative Investigation” honour upon the Nagpur City Police for its outstanding investigation into a sensational Rs 3 crore burglary case.
The recognition was awarded by the Director General of Police Office Maharashtra after the city’s Crime Branch Unit-1 successfully cracked the high-profile house burglary reported in Rajnagar under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station.
The case had initially posed a major challenge for investigators due to the massive value of stolen property and the professional manner in which the crime was executed. However, officers of Crime Branch Unit-1 carried out a meticulous and intelligence-driven investigation, eventually tracking down and arresting two history-sheeters allegedly involved in the crime.
What made the operation particularly remarkable was the recovery of stolen valuables worth more than Rs 3 crore from the accused, an achievement officials described as the result of relentless fieldwork, technical analysis, surveillance and strategic coordination by the investigating team.
Police sources stated that the accused were seasoned criminals with prior records, and cracking the case required extensive groundwork and sustained monitoring by the Crime Branch officers and staff.
The exceptional investigation drew the attention of Maharashtra Director General of Police Sadanand Date as well as the Crime Investigation Department Maharashtra, following which Nagpur Police was selected for the prestigious statewide honour under the category of “Best Efforts in Qualitative Investigation.”
As part of the official recognition ceremony held at the DGP Office in Mumbai on May 15, 2026, officers and personnel from Nagpur Crime Branch Unit-1 were presented commendation certificates for their exemplary work.
Those honoured included Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar, Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Bhonde, Rajabhau Jadhav and Police Constable Ravi Aher.
Senior officials said the honour reflects the growing reputation of the Nagpur Police Commissionerate in handling complex and high-value criminal investigations with professionalism and efficiency.
Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal congratulated the officers and staff of Crime Branch Unit-1 for their commendable achievement and praised their dedication, investigative skill and tireless efforts in solving the sensational case.
The recognition is being viewed as a significant morale booster for the city police force and a testimony to the evolving standards of professional crime investigation within the Nagpur Police Commissionerate.
