
Nagpur – In a significant crackdown under the ongoing ‘Operation Thunder’, the Pratapnagar Police have arrested a man involved in storing illegal tobacco and scented pan masala. Acting on a tip-off on the night of November 17, a team raided Plot No. 185 in Sindhi Colony, Khamla, under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal.
During the operation, police apprehended Anil Sadoramlal Chawla (54), who had been stocking large quantities of banned tobacco products from his residence. The team seized items worth ₹1,71,938, including government-banned scented tobacco, pan masala, and various branded flavour boxes. It was revealed that Chawla had been conducting the illegal trade on a large scale with the help of his wife, M/s. Muju Anil Chawla, for financial gain.
A case has been registered at Pratapnagar Police Station under IPC Sections 123, 223, 274, 275, and Section 3(5) of BNS. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
