Nagpur: The Ganeshpeth Police have busted a gang allegedly involved in stealing two-wheelers to finance their drug addiction. Three accused have been arrested in connection with two vehicle theft cases, and the stolen motorcycles have been recovered. Police are now investigating whether the gang was involved in other vehicle thefts across the city.
The case came to light after complainant Advocate Sarthak Sudarshan Chaurasia, a resident of Saraswati Bhavan on Ghat Road near Vijay Talkies, reported that two motorcycles parked outside his house had been stolen.
During the investigation, a Ganeshpeth Police patrol team noticed a man, identified as Aamir Bashir Sheikh, riding a suspicious motorcycle near a bus stop. When asked to produce the vehicle’s documents, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. Further verification confirmed that the motorcycle had been stolen.

During interrogation, Aamir confessed that he, along with his associates Aziz Ayub Khan and Aakib Shakeel Sheikh, had stolen both motorcycles. Based on their disclosure, police recovered both stolen vehicles.
According to police, all three accused are addicted to narcotic substances and allegedly resorted to vehicle thefts to fund their addiction.
Investigators revealed that after stealing the first motorcycle, the accused hid it behind a petrol pump near Jhansi Rani Square. CCTV footage of the theft provided crucial leads, helping police identify and trace the suspects.
Police also found that after stealing the first motorcycle, the trio returned to the same house and stole a second two-wheeler parked outside the premises.
Ganeshpeth Police are now verifying the criminal backgrounds of the accused and investigating whether the gang was involved in other two-wheeler thefts reported across Nagpur.
