Nagpur Police and NGO Collaborate for “Together for a Drug-Free Nagpur” Initiative

Nagpur: Nagpur City Police Commissionerate, in collaboration with Nuri Mehfil NGO, organized the “Together for a Drug-Free Nagpur” event on May 24, 2024, at 7:00 PM. The event, held at NMC Tajbagh High School Grounds, Thakur Plot, Minara Masjid, Motha Tajbagh, was initiated under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singhal.

The event began with a street play titled “Hawa Me Udna Ya Dawa” by Maitri Vyasanmukti Kendra, which depicted how individuals become addicted to drugs and the adverse effects on their bodies.

Police Commissioner Dr. Singhal addressed the audience on the detrimental effects of drug addiction, the rising crime rates among the youth due to addiction, and its impact on personal lives and society. He urged citizens to join in the eradication of drug addiction.

Key speakers included Sanjay Patil, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime), Shivaji Rathod, Additional Police Commissioner (South Division), Pramod Shewale, Additional Police Commissioner (North Division), and Nimit Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime). They provided insights into the harms of drug use and recovery methods.

Additional guidance was offered by speakers such as Hafeez Sakir Raza Sahab, Mufti Javedul Qadri Sahab, Tushar Natu, Dr. Vinod Gajghate, and Mukesh Kale from Alcoholics Anonymous.

The program was hosted by Hasan Raza Sahab, with an introduction by Gajanan Gulhane, Police Inspector of the Anti-Narcotics Crime Branch, and a vote of thanks by Hasan Raza Sahab. The event saw participation from members of de-addiction centers, NGO volunteers, local residents, peace committee members, senior citizens, and journalists from Nagpur.
