Nagpur: A shocking incident at Nagpur’s Government Medical Hospital created panic on Thursday morning after a transgender patient allegedly died by suicide inside a hospital ward. The incident triggered chaos across the medical campus, leaving patients, relatives, and hospital staff in shock.
The deceased has been identified as Radhika Mohan Jadhav (35). According to hospital and police sources, the incident came to light between 7:30 am and 8:00 am when people inside the ward noticed the patient hanging, leading to panic inside the hospital.
Ajni Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and began investigation procedures.
Sources said Radhika had been battling severe physical pain and mental distress for several days. In April, she reportedly suffered a major railway accident in which one of her legs was amputated. Since then, she had been undergoing treatment at the hospital and was said to be struggling with unbearable pain and emotional trauma.
According to preliminary findings, the deceased allegedly used bandages and medical cloth available inside the ward to create a noose and tied it to the hospital bed before taking the extreme step.
Hospital staff members were left shocked after discovering the incident. Soon after the news spread, a large crowd gathered inside the medical college premises, while patients and relatives were seen in a state of fear and confusion.
Police have sent the body for postmortem examination and further investigation is underway. Ajni Police are probing whether prolonged physical suffering and mental stress were the primary reasons behind the suicide, while other possible angles are also being examined.
