Nagpur: Preparations for the grand celebration of Chhath Puja, one of the most significant festivals for the North Indian community, are in full swing across Nagpur. The festival, to be observed on October 25 and 28, has brought a festive glow to city markets, which are witnessing heavy footfall of devotees purchasing traditional items for the rituals.
The Ambazari and Futala lake areas are being decked up for the celebrations, where thousands of devotees will gather to offer Arghya (prayers) to the Sun God. Markets are flooded with puja essentials like fruits, sugarcane, coconuts, bamboo baskets (soop and tokri), and new clothes, as citizens throng shops for last-minute purchases.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has taken up extensive arrangements for cleanliness, lighting, drinking water, and safety near major water bodies. Meanwhile, the bustling markets filled with Chhath Puja materials have become the talk of the town, reflecting the high demand and festive spirit.
Beyond its religious significance, Chhath Puja in Nagpur has evolved into a symbol of social and cultural unity, with the vibrant marketplaces showcasing the city’s diverse and inclusive cultural fabric.
