Nagpur: Nagpur’s historic Marbat Festival, an integral part of the city’s cultural tradition, will be celebrated in a new format this year. For the first time, tickets for the festival are being sold through BookMyShow.
This year’s Marbat Festival will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in the Gandhi Statue area. The programme will run for approximately three hours, and entry will be open to citizens aged 18 and above.

Tickets for the Executive category have been priced at Rs 500, while tickets for the Heritage Walk cost Rs 750. Ticket holders will also receive a special-event T-shirt.
The Marbat Festival holds a special place in Nagpur’s history. It is traditionally celebrated around Pola Padwa. The festival’s main attraction is its colourful processions. Thousands of citizens gather every year for the processions of Kali Marbat and Pili Marbat.
Notably, the Marbat procession is not limited to a religious or cultural tradition. The festival is also known for its satirical presentations commenting on social and political developments.
With ticket sales taking place online this year, visitors will be able to experience the festival in a more organised and planned manner. The Heritage Walk will also offer citizens an opportunity to learn about Nagpur’s historical and cultural heritage.
Efforts are being made to promote the Marbat Festival, an important part of Maharashtra’s cultural heritage, on a wider scale this year. Nagpur’s festival is entering its 145th year, and dignitaries from national and international levels are also expected to attend.
