Nagpur: A 26-year-old woman from the Pratap Nagar Police Station area in Nagpur has lodged a complaint accusing a man of sexually exploiting her for over two years under the false promise of marriage. Based on her complaint, Pratap Nagar Police have registered a case against the accused.
According to police, the survivor first met the accused, Prakash Purushottam Bahekar (26), a resident of Kamgar Colony, Nagpur, during a relative’s wedding in 2016. The two stayed in touch and began regularly communicating over the phone.
The woman told police that Prakash assured her he would marry her and start a happy life together. Using this false promise, he allegedly called her to various hotels multiple times between May 30, 2023 and November 12, 2025, where he forcibly established sexual relations with her.
When the survivor asked him about marriage, the accused allegedly assaulted her with fists and threatened to kill her. He then flatly refused to marry her, the complaint states.
Based on the woman’s statement, PSI Dandale of Pratap Nagar Police Station has registered a case against Prakash under Sections 69, 115(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
