Eight Nagpur Jewellers Receive Extortion Threats in Lawrence Bishnoi Gang’s Name; Rs 10 Lakh Demanded from Each
Nagpur, November 1, 2026: A major extortion threat has triggered concern among jewellers in Nagpur, with eight bullion traders reportedly receiving threatening letters in the name of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, demanding Rs 10 lakh from each of them.

The letters, sent through post, reportedly warned the traders of dire consequences, including being shot dead or killed if they failed to pay the demanded amount.

Three to Five Days to Pay Ransom

According to reports, the threatening letters gave different deadlines to the traders, with some being asked to arrange the money within three days and others within five days.

The senders allegedly threatened to attack the jewellers in a manner similar to the recent shooting incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff.

The letters also instructed traders willing to pay the ransom to write ‘Jai Shri Ram’ outside their shops, following which further instructions regarding the payment would be communicated.

Jewellery Association Approaches Chief Minister and Police

The incident has caused anxiety among jewellery traders, particularly as the festive season is an important business period for the gold and silver trade.

Taking serious note of the threats, Rajesh Rokde, National President of the All India Gems and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC), reportedly brought the matter to the attention of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The association has also approached Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil, seeking immediate security measures for jewellery traders.

Police Investigation Underway

Police have advised traders not to panic but remain vigilant. They have been urged to immediately report any threatening letters, phone calls or suspicious messages.

A police case is being registered, and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for sending the letters and determine whether the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has any actual involvement.

The identity of the individuals behind the extortion attempt has not yet been established.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about the security of jewellery businesses in Nagpur during the busy festive season.
