Nagpur: A sea of saffron, the rhythm of thousands of instruments, and the powerful chorus of “Jai Gurudev” transformed the Ishwar Deshmukh College grounds at Hanuman Nagar into a sanctum of spirituality and art on the fourth day of the ‘Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav 2025’.
In a grand spectacle that brought together 2,000 artists on one stage, the evening unfolded as a magnificent tribute to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj, the saint, reformer, and spiritual visionary who devoted his life to the ideals of service, humanity, and national unity.
The event, titled “Rashtrasantanchi Jeevangatha”, was a vibrant confluence of music, dance, and drama, a visual retelling of Tukdoji Maharaj’s remarkable journey. The performance traced his childhood, his meeting with Mahatma Gandhi, his role in India’s freedom struggle, the imprisonment that deepened his spiritual resolve, and his awakening of the masses through the ‘Khanjiri Bhajan’ movement.
Every beat of the drum and every note of the bhajan seemed to carry his timeless message of devotion, equality, and patriotism. The atmosphere turned electric when the audience joined in songs like “Tu Ne Seva Hi Na Kiya Hai,” “Manus Dya Maj Manus,” and “Shandar Ho Mera Bharat.” Thousands of devotees, donning saffron caps, sang in unison — their voices rising like a wave of faith that washed over the venue.
The grand production was conceptualised and coordinated by Dr. Devendra Yadav, with music direction by Shrikant Pise, choreography by Akshay Dhabadgaonkar, and anchoring by Devendra Dodke. Presented under the auspices of Akhil Bharatiya Shrigurudev Seva Mandal and Shreekshetra Gurukunj Ashram, the event seamlessly merged artistic excellence with spiritual devotion.
The evening began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Padma Shri Dr. Vikas Mahatme, and other dignitaries, symbolising the illumination of the saint’s eternal message. The guests also felicitated the performing artists, acknowledging their contribution to preserving cultural and spiritual heritage.
Behind the scenes, meticulous coordination by Amol Bambal, Ashok Yawle, Dnyaneshwar Rakshak, Rajesh Kumbhalkar, Sudhakar Ambuskar, Avinash Ghushe, and Shrirang Varhadpande ensured that every aspect of the grand production flowed seamlessly.
The evening was not merely a performance, it was a pilgrimage through melody and movement, reminding Nagpurians of the enduring light of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj’s teachings, which continue to inspire generations to serve, uplift, and unite.
