Nagpur: A major fire broke out in the Hazari Pahad area of Nagpur around 3:30 am on Monday, gutting five houses and destroying household belongings, including televisions, refrigerators, a motorcycle and important documents.
The fire spread rapidly through the houses, leaving the affected families with extensive property losses. Panic gripped the area after three LPG cylinders exploded during the incident. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The incident was reported to BJP Jhoppadpatti Morcha Nagpur City general secretary Ramesh Kalmegh, who informed corporator Vijay Hole around 4 am. Hole subsequently contacted the police and fire brigade to arrange immediate assistance.
Local residents also joined efforts to control the blaze. Fire brigade vehicles reached the spot around 4:30 am and brought the fire under control after considerable efforts.
The houses belonging to Megha Khobragade, Koti Hole, Ritesh Meshram, Mukesh Gauri and Sawant Raut were severely damaged in the fire. The affected families said that household belongings and important documents were destroyed.
The exact cause of the fire and the total extent of the damage are yet to be officially assessed. The affected families have sought financial assistance, rehabilitation and compensation from the administration.
