Nagpur: The Nagpur Crime Branch’s Unit 4 has arrested a Rajasthan-based man for allegedly duping a Nagpur businessman of ₹3.35 lakh by promising to supply granite at discounted rates through social media.
The accused, identified as Sandeep Mahendradan Charan (29), was arrested from Khandiya village in Sardarshahar tehsil of Churu district, Rajasthan, following a technical investigation. Police said the accused is also wanted in four other fraud cases.
According to police, the complainant, Raghunath Prasad Kumar Gujar, a granite trader and resident of Shubhangi Nagar-2 in Beltarodi, was contacted by the accused on Instagram during January-February 2026. Charan allegedly lured the businessman by offering granite at highly competitive prices.

To gain the complainant’s confidence, the accused reportedly conducted video calls and shared photographs and videos of granite. Believing the offer to be genuine, the businessman transferred ₹3.35 lakh online. However, after receiving the money, the accused stopped responding, switched off his phone, and failed to deliver the promised material.
Based on the complaint, Beltarodi Police registered a case under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 66(C) of the Information Technology Act.
During the investigation, Crime Branch Unit 4 tracked the accused’s location using technical surveillance and laid a trap at his residence in Rajasthan, where he was apprehended.
Police said preliminary interrogation revealed that the accused is wanted in four other cheating cases. He has been handed over to the Beltarodi Police for further investigation.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior police officials by Crime Branch Unit 4, led by Police Inspector Baburao Raut, Sub-Inspector Jitesh Aravelli, and their team.
