Nagpur: Ajni police have registered a case of negligence against Dr Raj Gajbhiye, Dean of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), and 10 other doctors in connection with the death of a woman patient during surgery in 2019. They were booked following a magisterial court order, said police.

Kewalram Patole of Hudkeshwar took his wife Pushpa to GMCH in 2019, where Dr Gajbhiye, head of the surgery then, examined her and advised surgery.

On July 6, Pushpa was taken for surgery. Dr Gajbhiye later called Patole to his cabin and said Pushpa’s condition was critical. She was shifted to ICU, and declared dead on July 8. Patole was told that the cause of death was cardiac arrest. Not satisfied, Patole filed a complaint of negligence.
