Nagpur gets India’s first electric vehicle charging station

IOC and Ola launch station
Nagpur: The city has got India’s first electric vehicle (EV) charging station at one of the petrol pumps. This first EV charging station has been launched by State-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) in partnership with taxi aggregator Ola. Nagpur is also known as the first city to introduce Electric Public Transportation Model in India, and now can boast of the first electric vehicle charging station as well.

Speaking on the occasion, Murali Srinivasan said, IOC considers promoting ecological sustainability as a part of its core business. The partnership with Ola is the right step towards how India will communte in coming years. He lauded Ola for building the Electric Vehicle eco-system from a nascent stage in Nagpur. It can bring about a catalytic change in respect of vehicular pollution and air quality and a large scale mobility platform, he said

NITI Aayog , Indian government’s think tank has confirmed to set up 135 EV charging stations at 55 locations in Delhi in order to increase the footprint or the infrastructure of EV charging stations.
