Nagpur gears up for Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature from Dec 8-14

Nagpur: The Second Capital is preparing for an intense and business-heavy Winter Session of the Maharashtra Legislature, scheduled from December 8 to 14, 2025, following a major decision taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committees (BAC) of both Houses.

The meeting, held at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai, finalised the dates and approved a rare move to hold proceedings even on government holidays—Saturday, December 13, and Sunday, December 14. The decision reflects the government’s push to complete key legislative work within the tight one-week schedule in Nagpur.

The BAC meet witnessed the presence of major political leaders, including Legislative Council Chairperson Prof. Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Assembly Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode, and several cabinet ministers. Legislature Secretary Jitendra Bhole and other senior officials were also in attendance.

During the meeting, Speaker Rahul Narwekar announced the release of a special publication featuring Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ landmark speech delivered on March 26, 2025, during a discussion celebrating India’s Glorious Constitutional Amrit Mahotsavi Journey. The compilation has been prepared by the Legislature’s Parliamentary Training Centre.

The book is scheduled to be officially released by Governor Acharya Devvrat on Tuesday, December 9, at the Legislature complex.

With full political strength converging in Nagpur and extended sittings expected, the Winter Session is set to be tense, eventful, and strategically significant, likely to witness heated debates and major policy announcements.
