Booty worth Rs 3.69 lakh stolen from flat in Gorepeth, Nagpur

Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have registered a case against an unidentified burglar who broke into a senior citizen’s flat in Gorepeth and decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 3.69 lakh.

The incident occurred on December 2, between 10 am and 4 pm, when the complainant, 75-year-old Vilas Madhavrao Bobade, had locked his house and gone with his family to attend a relative’s wedding in Khamla.

Taking advantage of the family’s absence, the intruder reportedly broke the lock and latch of the main door of Flat No. 101, Vijay Apartment, Plot No. G/118, and gained entry. The burglar then targeted the bedroom cupboard, stealing Rs 5,000 in cash along with gold and silver ornaments collectively valued at Rs 3,69,000.

Based on the complaint filed by Bobade, API Amol Gore registered a case at Sitabuldi Police Station under Sections 305(a) and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway to identify and trace the accused.
