Nagpur Flying Club welcomes Cessna 172R Trainer Aircraft back to fleet

Nagpur: In a momentous event on Wednesday, the Nagpur Flying Club (NFC) proudly welcomed the addition of a Cessna 172R trainer aircraft to its fleet. The four-seater aircraft was flagged off by Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner, in the presence of NFC staff and other officials.

The NFC, operated by the Maharashtra Government, plays a pivotal role in training aspiring pilots from the Vidarbha region of the state as well as the Central Indian region. Currently, a total of 40 trainees, including 20 individuals from the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research and Training Institute (Mahajyoti) and 20 private individuals, are undergoing training at the NFC.

During the training period, the aspiring pilots must complete mandatory flying hours. To facilitate this, the NFC possesses a fleet of four aircraft, with three of them being two-seaters and the newly added Cessna 172R serving as the only four-seater aircraft.

Notably, the Cessna 172R had been out of service at the NFC since 2017 due to technical issues. It took several years to resolve these challenges, but finally, on Wednesday, the aircraft rejoined the NFC’s fleet, marking a significant achievement for the flying club and its trainees.

The event took place at the Nagpur Flying Club hangar, situated in the vicinity of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. Deepali Motiyele, Managing Director of NFC, and Captain S. Ezhilarasan, Deputy Chief Flight Instructor, were prominently present alongside the trainees. Bidari, who also paid a visit to the NFC hangar, gained valuable insights into the Cessna 172R and took the opportunity to inspect the training center and aircraft repair unit.

The reintroduction of the Cessna 172R trainer aircraft at the Nagpur Flying Club marks a significant milestone, enabling the NFC to provide enhanced training opportunities for aspiring pilots in the region. With the addition of this four-seater aircraft, the club aims to further its mission of nurturing aviation talent and contributing to the growth of the aviation industry in Maharashtra.

As the NFC continues to strive towards excellence in aviation training, it remains committed to equipping future aviators with the necessary skills and knowledge to soar to new heights in the skies.
