Nagpur: Airfares from Nagpur have seen a noticeable spike for key routes such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad, following a recent 25% increase in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices. Ticket prices that were around ₹5,500 just a week ago have now risen to between ₹6,500 and ₹7,400 across major sectors.
Flights from Nagpur to Delhi are currently priced in the range of ₹7,000 to ₹7,400 for travel this month, compared to the usual ₹5,500 to ₹6,000. Similarly, fares to Mumbai have climbed to ₹6,200–₹6,400 through early May, marking an increase of nearly ₹1,000 over regular pricing.
Routes to Pune are also witnessing higher fares, with ticket prices exceeding ₹6,400 for most of April before easing to around ₹5,500 in May. Hyderabad, despite being geographically closer, is seeing fares above ₹6,400 as well.
However, not all destinations have been impacted equally. Flights to Goa remain relatively affordable, staying under ₹5,000 through April and May. Fares to cities like Ahmedabad and Bengaluru are also holding steady below ₹6,000.
The rise in ticket prices is largely attributed to the sharp increase in ATF costs, which has directly affected airline operating expenses and fare structures. Additionally, ongoing tensions in West Asia have disrupted travel patterns, particularly for international routes that rely on Gulf transit hubs. As a result, travelers are increasingly opting for domestic and eastward destinations, while bookings to Gulf countries have seen a significant decline.
Overall, passengers flying out of Nagpur can expect elevated fares in the short term, especially on high-demand routes, as airlines adjust pricing in response to rising fuel costs and changing travel dynamics.
