Nagpur: Ending weeks of anticipation, the Maharashtra Government on Thursday issued orders, with Kumar Ashirwad taking charge as the new District Collector of Nagpur.
He takes over from Dr. Vipin Itankar, who had been holding additional charge following his transfer as Municipal Commissioner of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
A 2016-batch IAS officer, Kumar Ashirwad is currently serving as the District Collector of Solapur since July 2022. A Civil Engineering graduate, he gained recognition for his effective handling of relief and rehabilitation work during the flash floods in Solapur, earning appreciation in administrative circles.
He now assumes charge in Nagpur – a key administrative district and the home turf of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
