Nagpur First is a Charitable Trust initiated by Nagpur and is spread across the globe (engaged and successful in different professions) keen to bring Nagpur city on the global map. The NGO is unique because the concept is initiated collectively by Non-Resident-Nagpuris who want to transform Nagpur into Global city by 2020. To achieve the same, Nagpur First is creating platforms at various levels, reorienting Nagpur’s economy and its engagements in world markets to promote the city at global level.

The NGO is organizing a first of its kind a two-day Summit under the banner Global Nagpur on December 27 and 28, 2014 at Persistent Systems (IT Park, Parsodi) and Chitnavis Centre (Civil Lines) respectively. Nagpur First has also instituted Global Nagpuri Awards to recognize the Nagpuris who’ve been successful in their respective professions and act as ambassadors of City around the globe. The initiative will be led and attended by eminent and globally recognized industrialists, professionals, and politicians.

The Big Agenda of Global Nagpur Summit is to create an environment for political and economic transparency and reforms; unleash innovative business energies; create choices and channels to realize the full potential of our resources; strengthen jobs and growth opportunities; develop business policies and habits of cooperation, promote self-reliance, and everything else that plays a role in accelerating the local economy.

Besides achieving the larger objective of earning a place for Nagpur on the global table, this summit will focus on initiating steps that will make Nagpur by 2020 the most sought destination for people to invest, work, live, or return to roots.

The summit is going to focus on citizens driven initiatives, facilitate global partnership platforms for local stake holders with Nagpur First Ambassadors and summit participants from across the globe and more. It will also recognize and honour individuals and organizations who have contributed to the city’s growth, bringing it a step closer to being a global recognition.

While addressing the media personnel, Founder and Chairman of Nagpur First Dinesh Jain said that he had left Nagpur in 1984 after finishing his engineering degree from VRCE. He claimed that he has lived in many places in foreign countries like Philadelphia, Tokyo, Chicago etc. During his stay, he has encountered many Nagpuris whose heart was still in Nagpur. Most of them wanted their birthplace Nagpur to develop and be recognized globally. With this in mind, and after deliberations from many like-minded NRIs, they arrived at the name Nagpur First. Jain claimed that they have a sole motto of making Nagpur a Global City by 2020.

Dinesh Jain added that delegates from 40 odd countries and 47 cities across the globe are said to attend the two-day seminar.

Meanwhile officials of Nagpur First are taking the concept of sister-cities ahead and are in talks with Memphis which is one of the biggest Logistics Hub in the world. They are also in talks with Naperville and Santa Clara,so that many new concepts and sharing of knowledge is exchanged with the foreign cities.

Managing Director and CEO of SMS Envocare; the group company promoted by SMS Infrastructure Ltd (who are the Platinum Partner of the event), CA Hemant Lodha claimed that they are going to award and acknowledge the contributions of local entrepreneurs by awarding them. There are 11 categories under which various awards will be given.

Vice Chairman of CII Vidarbha Zonal Council & Managing Director, ESMS (India) Pvt. Ltd Nitin Deveshwar said that one of the sole aims of CII is to promote this area globally. In order to do that they have organized various seminars and sessions with experts and entrepreneurs who have succeeded well in foreign countries. He claimed that 100 delegates from foreign countries and 100-150 delegates from local areas will be attending the two-day meet.

Secretary of P Manifold Faiz Wahid and General Manager of IT Park in Wardha also expressed their desire to market Nagpur Globally.

Founder and Chairman of Nagpur First Dinesh Jain, claimed that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had consented to inaugurate the Global Nagpur Summit. Prominently present on the occasion will be Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Hansraj Ahir, Prafull Patel, Mayor Praveen Datke, Nagpur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shyam Wardhane and Chairman of NIT Harshadeep Kamble, amongst others.

During the two-days, a series of panel discussions and keynote addresses will be moderated and organized where the key focus areas are going to be issues like Security & Healthcare, Political Will, Cultural & Business Reforms, IT, and more, the focus always being to pave a growth path for Nagpur to go global.

Nagpur First invites resident Nagpuris to be a part of the process to create a global identity for Nagpur.
