
Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Unit-5 has busted an alleged flesh trade racket operating under the guise of a spa in Wathoda and arrested two persons, including the owner of the establishment. Three women were rescued during the raid, while a woman caretaker, who allegedly managed the operations, is on the run.
Acting on specific inputs, the Crime Branch conducted a raid at Exotica Spa in Jai Jalaram Nagar, Wathoda Layout, between 4.41 pm and 10.40 pm on August 3. During the search, police allegedly uncovered an organised prostitution racket being run from the spa premises.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sarika Chandrakant Shirgaon (48), the owner of the spa, and Chandrakant Diwakar Shirgaon (59), its manager. The police are searching for Kamini Kumari (25), the spa’s caretaker, who allegedly supervised the operations. A native of Begusarai district in Bihar, she is currently reported to be residing in Nagpur’s Pardi area.
According to investigators, women were allegedly lured with the promise of easy money and brought to the spa, where they were provided accommodation and customers in exchange for engaging in prostitution.
During the operation, police seized cash worth Rs 5,180, mobile phones, a PhonePe QR scanner, two PhonePe payment boxes, an Axis Bank swipe machine, a sealed packet containing condoms, and other articles collectively valued at Rs 67,200.
A case has been registered at Wathoda Police Station under Sections 143(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused and investigate whether more people were involved in the alleged prostitution racket.
