Nagpur Crime Branch recovers five vehicles, including Activa, stolen from Chhatrapati Chowk Metro Station

Nagpur: In a significant operation, Unit 1 of the Nagpur Crime Branch arrested a vehicle lifter based in Sakkardara and recovered five vehicles, including an Activa moped stolen from Chhatrapati Chowk Metro on April 12.

Police have identified the accused as Harsh alias Ikka Mahendra Ramteke (23), originally a resident of Tiroda, Gondia, and currently residing at Bhande Plot, Sakkardara.

According to police sources, complainant Pratik Balraam Yergude (23), a resident of Muskan Apartment, Trimutri Nagar Chowk, had parked his Activa moped (MH/34/AT/5670) at Chhatrapati Chowk Metro Station between 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm on April 12. However, when he returned, to his shock, his moped was missing.

He subsequently approached Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station with a complaint.

During the investigation, the sleuths of the Crime Branch, based on CCTV footage and human intelligence, narrowed down on Ramteke. During the interrogation, he admitted to stealing a vehicle from Chhatrapati Chowk Metro Station and four more vehicles from Ganeshpeth, Rana Pratap Nagar, and Tiroda.

Under the guidance of senior officials, the Crime Branch team, comprising PI Suhas Chaudhary, API Sachin Bhonde, Police Constables Ritesh Gedam, Baban Raut, Vinod Deshmukh, Sunil Gujar, Hemant Lonare, Sharad Chambhare, Sonu Bhaware, and others, made the arrest.
