Nagpur: In a major breakthrough against property crimes, the Anti-Burglary Squad of the Nagpur City Police Crime Branch has arrested three notorious interstate burglars from Haryana and Bihar and recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 22.19 lakh from their possession.
According to police officials, the Crime Branch had received specific intelligence inputs that a group of suspected criminals from outside Maharashtra had arrived in Nagpur with the intention of committing thefts and house break-ins. Acting on the tip-off, the Anti-Burglary Squad launched a special operation and conducted extensive checks at hotels, lodges and guest houses in and around the railway station area.
During the operation, police identified three suspicious individuals staying at a guest house in the Ganeshpeth area. The suspects were detained and subjected to questioning and a thorough search. The search led to the recovery of 143 grams of gold ornaments, 112 grams of silver jewellery, three mobile phones, cash amounting to Rs 10,450, and burglary tools allegedly used for house break-ins. The total value of the seized property has been estimated at Rs 22.19 lakh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Raju Jaspal Singh, a resident of Haryana, and Bhola alias Birendra Sukhdev Paswan and Rajesh Paras Shah, both residents of Bihar.
Police investigations revealed that all three are habitual offenders with multiple theft and burglary cases registered against them in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to their involvement in a house burglary case reported in Bhusawal in Jalgaon district. Investigators suspect that the gold, silver ornaments and other valuables recovered from the trio are linked to the Bhusawal burglary.
Efforts are underway to verify the ownership of the seized property and determine whether the accused were involved in similar offences in other states. Following their arrest, the three accused have been handed over to the Local Crime Branch of Jalgaon district for further investigation. Police officials said that the probe is continuing and more disclosures are expected during custodial interrogation.
