As the police learnt that the accused used to commit robberies on Saturdays and Sundays, the police informers were checking for the accused near a private bus stand.
Following a tip-off that the robbers arrived by a private bus, the Tehsil cops laid a trap at an ATM. As soon as the three entered the ATM, the police arrested them red-handed. The accused have confessed to committing ATM robberies at 36 ATM kiosks across Nagpur. The robbers were using unique modus-operandi to steal cash, especially from unguarded ATM kiosks. They were opening a panel of an ATM machine with a screwdriver and removing a knob from it. When a customer conducts a transaction, the machine fails to dispense the cash.
