Nagpur: The BJP’s East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde has alleged that the Managing Director of Mahajyoti (Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research & Training Institute) has allegedly indulged in irregularities in getting the tender for the purchase of 20,000 to a particular company.

According to Khopde, the tender was registered in GEM for purchase of 20,000tabs on behalf of Mahajyoti. As per the rules, the contractor had to pay 3% ‘Security Money’. But the officials of Mahajyoti relaxed this condition and took 1% as ‘Security Money’. Four companies participated in the technical and financial tenders which were later opened. The four companies had expressed their desire to supply tabs of the same brand. Three companies qualified in it. Even after giving so many concessions, one company did not pay the deposit but the same company was given the work of supply of tabs showing eligible. The BJP MLA claimed.

Khopde has further alleged that this shows that the officials had already entered into an agreement with the same company (the company to whom the work order was given) to buy the tabs. Lakhs of rupees have been misappropriated under the said agreement. When information was sought from the concerned officials regarding this, they gave a dubious reply and walked away. Khopde has also alleged that the finance officer is being pressured to clear the bill at the earliest.

The BJP MLA charged that this irregularity took place during the tenure of Maha Vikas Aghadi Government and the then Minister of State Bacchu Kadu had also ordered the suspension of the published tender for the purchase of tabs in a hurry.
