Adding another moment of embarassment to the Congress, followed by its shameful debacle in the entiire Maharashtra including Nagpur, city unit Congress President Vikas Thakre has also tendered his resignation from party’s post on Friday. The move is followed by Nitin Raut’s decision to resign from the post of State’s Employment Guarantee Minister following the worst ever party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha battle.
Sources said Vikas Thakre had sent his resignation to the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Manikrao Thakre. It could not be confirmed whether his resignation was accepted.

Nagpur Today tried calling Vikas Thakre on his cell, however he could not be reached as his phone remained off for most part of the day.

It may be mentioned that Thakre was recently appointed as the city unit Congress president in order to strengthen party’s position for the parliamentary elections. Insiders say that Thakre was quite discontented with the new responsibility as he had to pull back from his position as leader of oppostion in Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
