Nagpur: A controversy has emerged at a reputed college in Nagpur’s Wathoda area after a teacher was accused of sending allegedly obscene and religiously objectionable messages to female students. The matter came to light after a student’s family reportedly found the messages on her mobile phone and confronted the teacher at the college.
Speaking to Nagpur Today, the student’s father confirmed that he visited the college after seeing the alleged messages on his daughter’s phone. He said an argument followed and a physical altercation took place between him and the teacher. He also stated that he had lodged a complaint with the college administration.
The allegations have raised concerns about student safety, professional conduct and the handling of complaints within educational institutions. However, the contents of the messages and the allegations against the teacher have not been independently verified.
Father Seeks Action, Warns of Press Conference
According to the student’s father, the college administration contacted him after the incident and requested that he refrain from making the matter public while an internal inquiry was underway.
The father said he wanted a fair investigation and appropriate action if the allegations were substantiated. He warned that if satisfactory action was not taken, he would hold a press conference and publicly disclose the details of the case.
The college administration’s official response and the teacher’s version of events were not available at the time of publication.
Claims Involving Other Students Await Verification
There are also unverified claims that other female students may have felt uncomfortable with messages allegedly sent by the teacher. However, it remains unclear whether any other students have submitted formal complaints.
The alleged religiously objectionable content is another aspect that requires examination. The original messages, their context, statements from the parties involved and other relevant digital evidence would be important in establishing the facts.
College Inquiry and Police Action Unclear
The student’s father said the college administration had informed him that the matter was being examined internally. This account has not been independently confirmed by the institution.
It is also unclear whether a formal police complaint has been registered concerning the alleged messages or the physical altercation.
Any complaint involving inappropriate conduct towards students should be investigated fairly, with safeguards to protect students’ identities and prevent retaliation. The circumstances of the alleged altercation must also be examined through the appropriate process.
The case has brought renewed attention to the need for confidential complaint mechanisms and accountability in educational institutions. Further clarity is expected once the college administration and the teacher respond to the allegations.
