Nagpur: Swift action by the Nagpur Police Crime Branch’s Chain Snatching Prevention Squad led to the arrest of a 21-year-old youth involved in a snatching incident that occurred on the Ring Road in Hudkeshwar on Wednesday morning.
According to police, complainant Mukund Krishnaji Domale (61), a resident of Plot No. 37, Lavkush Nagar, Hudkeshwar, was out for his regular morning walk around 6:45 am on October 22, 2025, when an unidentified motorcyclist approached him from behind near Bhagyalaxmi Hall on the Ring Road. The assailant tried to snatch the gold chain from Domale’s neck, causing it to break. The thief then grabbed the gold pendant, worth about Rs 20,000, and fled the spot on his motorcycle.
Based on Domale’s complaint, Hudkeshwar Police registered an offence under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code (robbery).
During parallel investigation, officers from the Chain Snatching Prevention Squad of the Crime Branch swung into action. Using technical surveillance and reliable intelligence, they laid a trap and apprehended the suspect, identified as Harshal Dhanraj Chaudhary (21), resident of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, near Vitthal Rukmini Temple, Hudkeshwar.
During interrogation, Chaudhary confessed to committing the robbery. Police seized the Hero Deluxe motorcycle (MH-49 K-0750) used in the crime, along with the gold pendant and a mobile phone, collectively valued at Rs 1.14 lakh.
The accused has been handed over to Hudkeshwar Police for further investigation.

The successful action was led by Woman API Mangala Harde and her Chain Snatching Prevention Squad.
