The assailants eliminated Gawande (who was an accused in several offences), in a dramatic manner over a monetary dispute. Preliminary investigation suggested that Dalal was being harassed and threatened by Gawande for repayment of the interest on a loan of Rs 50,000 that the assailant had borrowed from him. Dalal claimed before the police that Gawande was harassing him despite him having repaid the loan with interest. Police feel there could be some other reasons too behind the murder. The murder was caught by security camera of the bar.
