Nagpur: The second phase of the 16th National Census officially began in Nagpur on Saturday, with thousands of enumerators starting door-to-door visits across the city after the completion of the digital self-enumeration phase.
Being conducted under the theme “Census for Public Welfare,” the exercise will focus on house-listing and collection of detailed family and household information from residents.
For the smooth execution of the census drive, Nagpur has been divided into 3,992 house-listing blocks. Nearly 4,500 enumerators and 700 supervisors have been deployed for the operation, which will continue till June 14.
Officials will use the digital ‘House Listing Operation’ (HLO) App to record data during visits. The process includes preparing locality maps, assigning house numbers, and verifying family details.
Each enumerator has been assigned nearly 800 residents for data collection. Citizens who completed self-enumeration between May 1 and May 15 will have to provide their 11-digit SE ID during verification.
Authorities have appealed to Nagpur residents to cooperate with survey teams and provide accurate information to ensure proper census records.
Ahead of the launch, multiple review meetings were held across Nagpur zones to train supervisors and discuss field-level challenges. A key meeting for Dharampeth Zone was recently conducted at Valmiki Higher Primary School.
