Nagpur: A 40-year-old businessman from Nagpur was booked by Jaripatka Police for allegedly abetting his 32-year-old wife Vanshika Jitendra Keswani to commit suicide, who ended her life on August 30 due to alleged physical and mental torture.
The accused has been identified as Jitendra Chotiram Keswani, residing in Hudco Colony.
According to police, after their marriage, Jitendra reportedly harboured suspicions about Vanshika’s character. The deceased faced both mental and physical torture, coupled with financial problems, as Jitendra failed to contribute to household expenses. Unable to bear the persistent harassment, Vanshika took the drastic step of hanging herself in the afternoon of August 30.
The police initially registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. During the course of the inquiry, it became evident that Vanshika’s suicide was a result of the prolonged harassment she faced at the hands of her husband. As a result, the police amended the case with addition of abetment to suicide charges and took Jitendra into custody. Further investigation is on.
