Nagpur continues to reel under extreme heatwave conditions as the city recorded a scorching 46.6°C on Wednesday, making it one of the hottest cities in Maharashtra and Central India. The intense heat has disrupted normal life across the city, with roads and markets witnessing reduced movement during afternoon hours.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heatwave conditions are expected to persist in Nagpur and across Vidarbha for the next three days. A yellow alert has been issued for Nagpur, while neighboring districts like Wardha, Akola, and Amravati remain under orange alert due to severe heatwave conditions.
Nagpur Weather Forecast for Next 3 Days
- May 21: Maximum temperature likely between 45°C and 46°C with dry and extremely hot weather conditions.
- May 22: Temperature expected around 44°C to 45°C; heatwave conditions likely to continue.
- May 23: Slight dip possible, but daytime temperatures are still expected to remain above 43°C with hot winds.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted dry weather across Vidarbha with “heatwave to severe heatwave” conditions likely at isolated places. Warm nights are also expected, offering little relief even after sunset.
Health officials have advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight between 12 PM and 4 PM, stay hydrated, and take special care of children, elderly people, and outdoor workers as cases of dehydration and heat exhaustion rise across the region.
