Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Squad has intercepted another major consignment of ganja allegedly brought to Nagpur from Odisha by road, recovering 30.8 kg of the contraband and arresting two persons during an operation in the Wathoda area.
Acting on a tip-off that a truck carrying a large quantity of ganja from Odisha was headed towards Nagpur, the Anti-Narcotics team laid a trap near Gauri Family Garden Restaurant on the service road along the Vihirgaon Outer Ring Road.

According to police, the suspects were allegedly transferring the ganja from the truck into a car when the team raided the spot. During the operation, police recovered 30.8 kg of ganja valued at around Rs 7.70 lakh.
The seized property includes an Eicher truck, a car and two mobile phones, taking the total value of the seized material to approximately Rs 23 lakh, police said.
Police identified the arrested accused as Amit Parteki, a truck driver from Ramtek, and Sheikh Sultan alias Tipu Ashpak Sheikh. Investigators allege that Parteki had transported the consignment from Odisha to Nagpur.
According to police, the consignment had allegedly been ordered by the prime suspect, Mahesh Babu alias Sabir Hassan, a resident of Hasanbagh. Police allege that Mahesh had sent his relative, Sheikh Sultan alias Tipu, to the spot in a car to collect the consignment.
While Parteki and Sheikh Sultan have been arrested, police have launched a search for Mahesh Babu alias Sabir.
A case has been registered at Wathoda Police Station under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to identify other persons involved in the alleged drug trafficking network and establish the source and intended destination of the consignment.
