
Nagpur: A 19-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself at her home in the Kalamna police station area. Following a complaint by her family, police arrested her 20-year-old boyfriend, Ashish Yuvraj Shillare, on allegations of abetment of suicide.
According to police, the woman had been in a relationship with Shillare, a resident of Indiranagar, for around a year. The two allegedly remained in regular contact over the phone and also met frequently.
Dispute Over Marriage
Police said the woman was reportedly distressed over the couple’s disagreement regarding marriage. According to the complaint, Shillare allegedly refused to marry her and is accused of telling her that he would not marry her even if she died.
Police said the alleged remarks and dispute over marriage left the woman mentally distressed.
On the night of September 7, the couple reportedly had an argument. The woman subsequently spoke to Shillare over the phone before allegedly taking the extreme step at her residence.
After the incident, her family approached Kalamna Police and lodged a complaint against Shillare.
Based on the complaint and preliminary investigation, police registered a case against him under relevant provisions concerning abetment of suicide and arrested him.
Police are conducting further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. The allegations against the accused are subject to investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
