Nagpur: Yashodhara Nagar police have arrested two men in connection with vehicle thefts in Nagpur and recovered four stolen two-wheelers valued at approximately ₹2.45 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Imran Hussain Rashid Hussain and Sheikh Sultan Sheikh Yasin. According to police, Imran had been released from jail about a month ago in connection with an earlier vehicle theft case. Investigators suspect that he allegedly resumed stealing vehicles with the help of associates after his release.
Theft Reported Near Automotive Square
The investigation began after a moped belonging to Faizan Khan, a resident of Kalamna, was reportedly stolen on October 7 from near a paan stall close to Automotive Square.
Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and examined CCTV footage from cameras installed around the scene to identify the suspects.
Tip-Off Leads to Arrests in Tajbagh
During patrolling, police reportedly received confidential information that the two suspects were planning to dispose of a stolen vehicle in the Tajbagh area.
Acting on the tip-off, the police team laid a trap and detained both men. During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to their involvement in four two-wheeler thefts reported within the jurisdictions of Sakkardara, Yashodhara Nagar and Nandanvan police stations.
Police subsequently recovered all four vehicles, with their total value estimated at ₹2.45 lakh.
Police Suspect More Theft Cases
Investigators suspect that the accused may have been involved in additional vehicle thefts in other parts of Nagpur. Police are also examining allegations that stolen vehicles were disposed of after their registration numbers were changed.
Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were linked to other theft cases and to establish the full extent of their alleged activities.
