Nagpur: In another twist and a cause of embarrassment to Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the statement that he made during a press meet that they intend to acquire the building ‘Poonam Tower’ right in front of Vidhan Bhavan has been proved baseless.
While speaking to Nagpur Today, renowned ‘dreamer” and developer N Kumar vehemently denied having any knowledge of such an acquisition or proposal of acquisition on the part of State Government.
When asked if Bawankule spoke to him about such a proposal and is he intending to sell the structure to State Government, he said that neither has he been approached by Bawankule nor is he intending to sell the structure.
N Kumar is a builder who has been instrumental in landmark projects like Poonam Plaza way back in 1989 which was the first Commercial Office building of Nagpur to Poonam Chambers in 1994 the first truly organised retail complex of Central India.
If Bawankule has not approached N Kumar and spoken to him about the acquisition of the building, why did he make such a statement to media personnel?
The visionary that N Kumar is, he had envisaged a plan to make a revolving restaurant on the top floor of Poonam Tower. It could be mentioned here that this building which has not been finished was not given a green signal since any commercial activity hit opposite to the Vidhan Bhavan could cause security problems especially when the Winter Session of Assembly is held in Nagpur.
